Having Fun at the Skate Park
Written by Michael Bonner

My sons wanted to have fun at the skate park in Anthem, Las Vegas last week. I thought to myself, “this’ll be a great and exciting time to use my new camera equipment.”

OMG! I could never have been more wrong.

They had a blast! New bike helmets. New friends. Riding their bikes up and down all of the different style ramps. For my sons, the skate park was like Disneyland on wheels. I was at Disneyland too. You know. Like the super bored parent on “It’s a Small World” for the 5th straight time…

My kids weren’t the problem though. My expectations were. I’m thinking skate park, dirt bikes, jumps, wheelies and back flips. Things I did as a child and yes, back flips too (NOT). What I got instead was a leisurely stroll around the park, with just a few dips, over and over and over gain.

I put action cameras on both their bikes but I got no action. Brandon crashed a couple times, which I highlight on the video. Other than that, however, nothing.

It was a very painful experience as a wannabe videographer. As a dad? Watching my kids have fun was amazing.

You didn’t think I was a complete jerk, did you? Lol, it was only the second time my sons had ever been to the skate park. I’m just happy that they were out there, being active and learning something new.

I won’t expect back flips until next week.
